Growers for Greenspace

Seeking new volunteers – Growers for Greenspace project

Do you like gardening? Do you want to learn new skills in propagating and growing native plants?

This year, five local councils in the Parramatta River catchment are involved in the “Growers for Greenspace” project, to promote the protection and rehabilitation of biodiversity corridors on both public and private land across the Strathfeld, Ashfield, Bankstown, City of Canada Bay and Hunters Hill areas.

This project will train and assist community members to propagate and grow native plants (in their own backyards, courtyards and balconies) for revegetation projects in the Parramatta River catchment. The projectwill provide TAFE accredited training (a 15 hour course over 3 days), grower’s kits, seeds, materials and technical advice to all articipants. The TAFE training courses will be offered in late 2010 and early 2011.

Bookings are now being taken for the first two courses to be held on:
4th and 18th September, 30th October 2010 (Saturdays)
12th & 26th October, 30th November 2010 (Tuesdays)

If you are interested and would like to know more, please contact the PRCG Coordinator by email or phone 9895 6253.
