Working together to sustain the Parramatta River
This project began in 2007 with seven member councils participating: Ashfield, Auburn, Canada Bay, Hunters Hill, Parramatta, Ryde and Strathfield.
The aim of the project is to implement Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) pilot projects in seven council areas. The focus of each pilot project is either harvesting stormwater or reducing stormwater runoff and pollutant loads into the catchment waterways.
A consultant is assessing the efficiency of each of the WSUD designs and will provide important feedback to councils on which designs work best for their individual sites. Monash University has been involved in developing a leadership program and has produced an industry report identifying leadership attributes of champions in the field. The Industry Report is available to download.
The project has been progressing well with four of the eleven projects now complete and most of the seven remaining projects in the final stages of completion. For further details on each pilot project please click on the corresponding council below (links to be added shortly).
